The ABB IRB 4600-60 / 2.05 is a six-axis industrial robot featuring a medium-load design that pairs with an ultra-wide working range. It delivers clear path precision and up to a 20-25% shorter cycle time compared to its predecessors. Its advanced movement control system ensures higher quality and consistency throughout production.
Regarding its physical capabilities, the robot handles a maximum load of 60 kg, provides a maximum horizontal reach of 2050 mm. These specifications make it perfect for tasks such as laying, deburring, machine selection, material removal, choosing and placing, mounting, and general part assembly.
Advanced IRC5 Controller and Performance
This system is equipped with the M2004 IRC5 controller, which is ABB’s fifth-generation robot controller. The cornerstone of its high performance is its proprietary motion control technology, TrueMove and QuickMove. This technology dictates the robot's accuracy, speed, cycle time, programmability, and external device synchronization.
Based on advanced dynamic modeling, the IRC5 automatically optimizes performance without requiring any manual tuning by the programmer. QuickMove functions to deliver the physically shortest possible cycle time, while TrueMove ensures precise path accuracy. Together, they provide a speed-independent path alongside predictable, high-performance behavior.
Software, Communication, and Factory Integration
Programming the robot is handled via the RAPID language, which offers a powerful combination of simplicity and flexibility. RAPID is an unlimited language featuring a host of advanced features and robust support for various process applications.
For factory integration, the IRC5 supports state-of-the-art field buses for I/O and acts as a well-behaved node in any plant network. It features powerful networking capabilities, including sensor interfaces, remote disk access, and socket messaging. These communication tools make the system exceptionally well-suited for a broad spectrum of industrial applications, including arc welding, press tending, palletizing, machining, measurement, and the loading, unloading, and handling of parts.
